We offer up to 10 hours of research support free of charge to researchers from Central Denmark Region and Aarhus University. If you need further assistance, an agreement can be made on the estimated time and frame of the further process. Book a research consultation right here.

Our services

CONNECT offers a range of services in any stage of the research lifecycle. We can help you:

  • Translate ideas/problems into research questions and hypotheses
  • Develop research plans, including methodology, study design, and budget
  • Draft protocols
  • Obtain approvals from relevant databases and biobanks as well as the National Committee on Health Research
  • Receive and curate data from various databases and data sources
  • Process and analyze data
  • Interpret data
  • Report research findings
  • Legal counseling

Areas of expertise

CONNECT brings together specialists from various departments at Aarhus University Hospital: Department of Clinical Epidemiology, Department of Molecular Medicine, and Department of Clinical Genetics. Our primary areas of expertise include:

  • Register-based research
  • Statistical analysis and interpretation
  • Data management
  • Molecular diagnostics
  • Bioinformatics
  • Genetic analysis

However, the purpose of CONNECT is also to serve as a 'hub' that connects researchers with specialists from other professional fields. By doing so, we make sure to always connect you with the right specialist - also in cases outside of our primary areas of expertise.

Purpose and background

CONNECT was established in 2020 as part of the Danish national strategy on personalized medicine.

This strategy aims to promote the use of personalized medicine in clinical practice; ultimately to improve disease treatment and prevention to the benefit of the individual patient.

A central element of the national strategy is the establishment of regional units facilitating access to health data. These units represent the first step towards a nationwide infrastructure on personalized medicine.


Target groups

CONNECT offers research consultations to the following groups of professionals:

• Employees in Central Denmark Region
• Employees at Aarhus University
• Health professionals with collective agreement/provider number in Central Denmark Region

In addition, CONNECT is able to facilitate collaborations with external partners, e.g., other Danish regions and universities as well as private companies and organizations.



CONNECT is a cross-organizational and interdisciplinary collaboration between Central Denmark Region, Aarhus University Hospital, and Aarhus University.

CONNECT is organized as a network structure bringing together specialists from Department of Clinical EpidemiologyDepartment of Molecular Medicine, and Department of Clinical Genetics, Aarhus University Hospital.

Christian Fynbo Christiansen, professor and consultant at Department of Clinical Epidemiology, is the daily manager of CONNECT.
